How to Calculate GST in India: Formula & Examples

GST (Goods and Services Tax) applies to most goods and services in India.

GST formula

GST amount = (Original cost × GST%) / 100. Total price = Original cost + GST amount.

Example

For ₹1,000 at 18% GST: GST = ₹180, total = ₹1,180.

Reverse GST

To remove GST from an inclusive price: Original = Total × 100 / (100 + GST%).
